New Construction
This new 86,000 sq. ft., 700-student school was designed to be unobtrusive and blend with its natural context. Located on a sloping site, the entrance is on the upper level which features communal areas such as a cafeteria, gymnasium/auditorium, library, and link to an outdoor learning garden. A two-story classroom wing connects to the communal area via a bridge-like corridor. The building exterior projects a welcoming, residential character while the interior features a diverse, age-appropriate color palette and ample natural light. The building contains a number of sustainable design strategies including a geothermal mechanical system. The new Primary Center is one of three major projects completed by KCBA for the Daniel Boone Area School District.
