Conversion of an Open-Air Plaza to an Enclosed Student Lounge; Linked to Three Existing Buildings
This project encompassed the conversion of an underutilized 2nd floor open air plaza into an enclosed student lounge and activity center. The space is connected to three existing buildings and the project also featured associated renovations in those buildings including at the college’s main IT center and administrative offices. Due to this complexity, the project required careful planning and construction phasing to ensure safety during construction and operational seamlessness afterward. The new Linksz Pavilion features a large, open commons with a variety of flexible seating areas to host myriad types of events and activities. This main area is linked via a glassy monumental stair to a new ground-level outdoor stage and plaza that opens onto one of the campus’s primary outdoor green spaces.
