This new elementary school is one of three major projects planned and designed by KCBA for the Perkiomen Valley School District. The small, constrained project site in Schwenksville Borough contains wetlands, a public water tower, and a vertical drop of over 80 feet; all of which necessitated careful planning for the building and site configuration. Complementary to the residential and historic character of the neighborhood, the new building features brick materials, sloped roofs, and cupolas. The interior contains an isolated kindergarten pod, separate cafeteria and gym spaces, and individual toilet rooms in each classroom to reduce unsupervised student circulation. The new 500-student facility has suitable core functions and building systems to easily expand to hold 750 in the future.
