New Construction
One of three major projects completed by KCBA for the Owen J. Roberts School District, this new 85,000 sq. ft. elementary school was built on a wooded, rural site. The 650-student school was designed to blend with the natural environment and includes expansive windows with outdoor views throughout the facility. Situated on a heavy slope, the building steps down the natural incline and provides a strong and modern presence. A two-story classroom wing features core spaces on the upper level. The library is centrally situated and surrounded by classrooms, offices, and the gym to act as a meeting space for teachers, staff, and students. A focus in planning was flexibility as many spaces such as the combination gym/auditorium offer economical multi-use capability.
