KCBA master planned and designed this new emergency response training center. The campus is located on a previously undeveloped 10-acre site that is bounded by a utility easement and adjacent to a private industrial complex. The program includes an instructional building, Class A burn building, and various training props. Key planning considerations included enabling instructors to simulate diverse real world emergency conditions and the implementation of advanced safety measures. The project site abuts active railroad tracks so all construction activities were carefully sequenced with the rail schedule to maintain clear space along the tracks.
