School Reconstruction; Expanded to House an Additional Grade as Part of District Grade Realignment

KCBA planned and designed this major school reconstruction project which was completed in conjunction with a district grade realignment. The prior school was built in the early 1970’s for grades 6-8 and featured an open plan structure. In order to accommodate the district’s enrollment and modern educational strategies, the majority of the school was razed and replaced to facilitate team teaching. The remaining segments, the gymnasium and natatorium, were fully renovated to seamlessly function with the new construction. In order to support a revised 5-8 grade structure, the school features distinct elementary and middle school houses. Fully occupied throughout the complex project, construction was carefully phased to ensure safety and minimize disturbance to educational programming. This is one of four major facility projects completed by KCBA for the Wilson Area School District.
